There will be a major exhibition of Anne's paintings at The Dock Museum, Barrow in Furness in Cumbria this spring. Over twenty pieces of work will be on show including many of these trees and stones as well as a number of her smaller, looser works. She was invited to have the exhibition some time ago and has been looking forward to returning to the Northwest.     Anne has been invited to have an exhibition at Strawberry Hill House in London, home of Horace Walpole who wrote the first Gothic novel, "Castle of Otranto". The show will run from the 23rd of March till the 18th of May.
Strawberry Hill House is Britain's finest example of Georgian Gothic Revival architecture and interior decoration. It began life in 1698 as a modest house, built by the coachmen of the Earl of Bradford. It was transformed into 'a little Gothic castle' by Horace Walpole, man of letters and the son of England's first Prime Minister. Between 1747 and 1792 Walpole doubled its size, creating Gothic rooms and adding towers and battlements in fulfilment of his dream. Further additions were made by the Countess Waldegrave in the 19th Century.
The exhibition has been arranged to mark the opening of the house in March and a number of other events are being planned to coincide with the exhibition including an open evening and book signing on Sunday the 4th of May from 5pm till 8pm.
